I made the simplified version (but used dried chili pepper instead of chili powder plus red bird's eye chili for extra spicy, sesame oil instead of sesame seed, and add garlic too) and boy it is HOT (and fragrant too)

Red(Chili) Oil

100 g dried chili pepper
3~5 star anise
1 Tbsp roasted sesame seeds
2 tsp Sichuan peppercorn
2 cm cassia bark
2 cm root ginger sliced
2 cups--3 cups peanuts oil
